Important Steps In Water Damage Restoration

Has your Bradenton home been damaged by water incursion? Maybe it was a burst pipe in the ceiling that flooded your home. Perhaps it was damage to the roof. It could have been anything. Now you’re faced with the prospect of beginning water damage restoration. What are the key steps to take?

Remove the Water

The first step to water damage restoration is to remove the standing water from your home. You can do this in any number of ways, including squeegeeing the water out, using a wet/dry vacuum to suck it up, and more. Get as much of the water out as you possibly can.

Eliminate Moisture

Once you have removed all the standing water, you can begin work on the next step in water damage restoration – removing moisture. This will need to be done for all areas that were wetted during the incident, including furniture, carpeting, even walls and floors. You’ll need to use a number of tools here, such as professional vacuums, a number of different fans, dehumidifiers, and more. All the excess moisture must be removed. You may find that you need to remove things like damaged sheetrock and insulation, damaged carpeting and the like, as well.

Finally, you’ll need to start the cleaning and sanitizing process. This is important to prevent mold from establishing a foothold within your home, as well as for dealing with any potential pathogens that might be present, particularly if the water invading your home was from an actual flood.
